Hands-on: Kindle for iOS gets iPad magazines, PDF support

Tis the period for loved ones, vacation happiness, and… iOS audience app updates? Just a several months after Apple’s iBooks got a big upgrade, Amazon has released a big one for its Ereader app for both the iPhone and iPad. The greatest new function — electronic newspapers — is unique to the iPad, but iPhone and iPod touching entrepreneurs are definitely not absolutely eventually missed of the fun.

When the Ereader Fireplace released last 30 days, it involved a journal app that challenges that of the Place Coloring and Place Supplement. Many lamented about average (or worse) style on the 7-inch present, but it viewed newspapers however. To be actual, there is over 400 newspapers, such as Martha Stewart Existing, Meals System Magazine, Male Health, and (our other Ziff Davis publication) PC Magazine.

Those same Ereader newspapers are now on the iPad, and they work much better on the 9.7-inch present of Apple’s iPad. In our assessments with the Ereader edition of PC Magazine, the style was appropriate, with big, wealthy photographs. It checked better in symbol (single page) method, as panoramic method changes to a double-paged look, which made textual content look awfully small. If this educates us anything, it’s that electronic newspapers are much better suitable for 10-inch pills than lesser 7-inch challenges like the Ereader Fireplace.

While newspapers are unique to the iPad edition of Ereader, another big inclusion is universal: PDF (and other) records can now be brought in and study on the iPhone, iPod touching, and iPad. This has been available for Ereader gadgets for age range, but it’s a big inclusion to the iPad app. You can transfer PDFs to Ereader by switching through iTunes, beginning from an e-mail or Opera, or mailing it to your individualized Ereader e-mail. Other records can only be started out through iTunes or the Ereader e-mail.

While many other iPad applications already wonderfully manage PDFs (GoodReader, iBooks), Ereader is a approached app to add to that collection. For PDF models of long-form records, community website eBooks, or — sexy, sexy — duplicate eBooks, these can now be structured along with your Ereader selection.

The current Ereader app is available now in the App Keep.
